Job Description

The Senior Estimator is responsible for creating quotes for customers. 

This involves communication with customers via telephone and email to ensure that their requirements are fully understood. It also includes working with our purchasing and production departments to accurately determine all cost inputs associated with producing machined products and a delivery date for when those components can be manufactured. This includes analyzing and determining material and labor costs, and machine operating costs to determine the total cost of a manufactured product. 

The goal is to provide accurate quotes to our customers in a timely manner. This individual has excellent written and verbal communication skills and is highly focused on customer service and complete and accurate data collection. This person must also be capable of prioritizing their workload to achieve objectives on time. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Interfacing, creating and maintaining a great working relationship with our customers.
  • Analyzing drawings and CAD models to determine material requirements and machining (both CNC and manual) and welding time requirements for creating quotes.
  • Using CAD/CAM software (Fusion by Autodesk) to produce time studies to determine accurate machining times, when required.
  • Inputting all required data into our ERP software to accurately capture all relevant production costs inputs.
  • Analyzing data within our ERP software, from previous jobs, to aid in determining accurate future production costs.
  • Consulting with our welding, machining and purchasing teams to aid in determining accurate production costs.
  • Creating work orders when quotes are awarded to the Company.
  • Updating quotes and/or work orders as project specifications change.
  • Reviewing work orders, after job completion, to ensure all job costs are captured for invoicing purposes.
  • Following company policies and procedures
Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum of estimating/quoting experience, of which at least 3 years in the machining sector.
  • Experience as supervisor and working with skilled trades.
  • Experience as a Machinist (NOC 72100) and/or Welder (NOC 72106) an asset.
  • Proficient in data entry and the use of CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with ERP software JobBOSS2 is an asset.
  • Highly proactive, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to comply with Company’s policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements & Disadvantages

  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Exposure to natural and environmental elements such as noise, dust, dirt, water, sharp objects, and odors.

Requirements

Schedule: 
8.5 hour shift plus possible overtime 

Day shift: 
Monday to Friday 
7:30 am to 4:00pm
